General

Everyone is talking about superfoods! And, it doesn’t seem to be trend, but more of a way of eating for life and good health! Green superfood is especially popular in green smoothies or superfood bowls, but here’s how to incorporate some superfoods into your everyday meals.

Kale

Kale has reached a surprising level of popularity and with that comes many creative ways to prepare it. One way to be sure the entire family can benefit from kale is to make a hash. Yes, a simple hash of cubed sweet potatoes, chorizo, and kale spiced with some cumin, chili powder, and sea salt is absolutely delicious and will make kale lovers out of kale skeptics.

Kale chips are also a favorite and they are so easy to make at home. Just search for instructions on the Internet and get cooking.

 Spinach

Spinach is also a great ingredient for a hash, but can also be incorporated into omelettes and pasta dishes too. But, make it easy on yourself and just throw some baby spinach leaves into a salad and eat it raw for maximum superfood benefits. Or, a quick saute in olive oil, garlic, and sea salt makes a delicious side or a pizza topping!

 Kiwi

Kiwi is delicious sliced. But, it’s more delicious in a yogurt parfait! It’s also very pleasing to eat in a salad. The options are plentiful for this superfood, so get creative and see how many ways you can enjoy kiwi!

 Avocado

Everyone seems to love avocados! Especially guacamole! But, avocado toast is truly exceptional and can be prepared any number of ways. A simple favorite preparation method for many is to slice the avocado on toast and top with olive oil, red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, and an over easy egg! Delicious and healthy! Some prefer to add bacon. The options are endless!

 Broccoli

Broccoli can be enjoyed raw with a low fat tip. But, a favorite way to prepare it is to roast it. Drizzle broccoli florets with olive oil, salt, and garlic and put it in the oven until tender. Or, let it cook a while longer until it gets crispy. Even the pickiest children will give it a try!

 Brussel Sprouts

Like Broccoli, brussel sprouts can be roasted until the outer leaves are a bit crispy. Half them and drizzle them with olive oil, garlic and salt. You can add crumbled bacon or a balsamic reduction and you will be amazed at the transformation and how a green that has traditionally received a bad wrap becomes so delicious!
